Maybe you do not know that motorcycle accident’s many times happen on the road. Motorcycle have a higher fatality rate per unit of distance traveled when compared with other vehicles. An Indonesian motorcycle study by Independent Transport Safety Bureau found that :

1. In Indonesia, motorcycle rider death rates increased among all rider age groups

2. Most of motorcycle rider death not using a suitable safety.

3. Motorcycle rider deaths were nearly 35 times more than drivers of other vehicles.

4. Motorcycle rider aged below 41 are 37 times more likely to be killed than other vehicle operators of the same age

Motorcycle fatalities represent approximately five percent of all highway fatalities each year, yet motorcycles represent just two percent of all registered vehicles in the Jakarta.

Nothing compares to the thrill and excitement of riding a motorcycle. Alas, the high excitement is unfortunately mingled with danger too. It’s true that motorcyclists are more prone to die in accidents than those in motorcars. Besides, an alarming increase in the number of motorcycle accidents has been recorded in recent years.

Cool air and heady speeds can make riding a motorcycle exciting but there are drawbacks to driving recklessly. Study and research has indicated that majority of the motorcycle accidents are fatal as compared to car accidents. The higher ratios of motorcycle accidents in Indonesia is due to motorists not recognizing a motorcycle during peak traffic hours, as visibility gets poor at night especially under bad weather conditions.

Poorly maintained roads with potholes and debris, failure to follow road safety instructions, not wearing a helmet, negligence of the driver, high speed driving and presence of drugs and alcohol are other reasons why motorcycle accidents are high. Often fatal, motorcycle accidents have risen sharply over the past few years.

Strong gusts of wind and wet roads lead to skidding and slipping of motorcycles as the braking abilities reduce. Motorcycle gear with protective pants and jackets save you from abrasions in case of an accident. Most of the motorcycle accidents are caused due to unsafe practices like: Tailgating, non conformation to traffic rules, fast speed, poor maintenance of the motorcycle and not utilizing signals at crossroads. Your presence of mind while adhering to proper precautions, while driving a motorcycle is necessary to avoid accidents.
